An account of the resource
A bust of Annia Galeria Faustina, better known as Faustina Senior or Major, is on the obverse side. She was married to Emperor Antoninus Pius and they had two sons and two daughters, one of whom was also called Faustina (or Faustina Junior or Minor). G. Faustina became Augusta after Antonius became emperor 138 AD. She was deified on her death in 140 AD, as indicated by, the name “Diva Faustina” printed on the front of the coin. Ceres is pictured on the reverse, she was the pre-Roman Italian goddess of earth, grain and fertility, the Romans identified her with Demeter. The coin was printed after G. Faustina's death.
