Description
The obverse of the coin shows the image of the Sabine King Tatius. He ruled Rome with Romulus, the founder of the city, after reconciling over the abduction (rape) of the Sabine women by Roman soldiers, which is shown on the reverse. The Roman soldiers were in need of wives, and they tricked their neighbors to steal their women. The agreement was reached when the women threw themselves in the middle of the fighting because they did not want their husbands, fathers, and brothers to be killed in the bloodshed.
