Subject

money; coins (money)

Description

On the obverse of this coin, a helmeted head of Roma is shown. On the reverse side of the coin, there is a column in-between L. Minucius Augurinus (left) and M. Minucius (right). The Minucias were a Roman family which held great political power during the early days of the Roman Republic. The column symbolizes the importance the family had in the city of Rome. Both L. Minucius Augurinus and M. Minucius are holding items used in religious ceremonies. This represents them making an offering to the column for the prosperity of Rome and their family.
