DSC_0018_98A2.tif DSC_0019_98B2.tif

On the obverse side of the coin, it shows the roman goddess Juno. Juno is the goddess of love and marriage and is one of the first three original gods of Rome. She is married to Jupiter the God of Thunder. She is the protector of all the women of Rome. On this coin, she is depicted wearing a Goatskin over her head. She usually is seen holding a sword and a shield representing the protection of all the women. Emperors will put Juno on a coin to ensure the protection of all their people.

On the reverse side, it shows a she-wolf from the famous tale of Romulus and Remus and an eagle. The she-wolf found Romulus and Remus floating down a river in a basket. She suckled them and kept them safe until a shepherd and his wife found them. They went on to start the city of Rome. The eagle represents the God Jupiter. He is the God of Thunder and the protector of Rome.
