On the obverse side, it shows Emperor Nero. Nero was considered one of the worst emperors of Rome. His reign was from 54 AD to 64 AD when he committed suicide. Throughout his reign, he murdered his mother and other political opponents. He also was thought to have started the great fires of Rome.

On the reverse side of the coin, it shows an Eagle standing on a palm branch. This Eagle represents the roman God Jupiter. Jupiter was considered the king of all gods. He is better known as Zeus. He is on the back of many roman coins because he represents success in military and war. Many Roman emperors would pray to Jupiter before wars for success. Having Jupiter on a coin shows the confidence and strength of the emperor and Rome.
