Nike
The coin that depicts Nike is AR Tetradrachm of Sycracuse. During this time, the City of Syracuse had been taken and the new Greek ruler, Gelon, wanted to show the power and victory that he brought to it. He personified this victory and his power through Nike, the goddess of victory. The charioteer on the coin also represented victory and emperors/rulers were usually depicted as these victorious charioteers. This ruler embodied what victory was and wanted to broadcast that out through this coin and its depictions.
